Arizona Sundogs News Release

PRESCOTT VALLEY, Ariz. - Joey Sides tallied a goal and an assist and Doug Groenestege was nearly perfect with 32 saves as the Arizona Sundogs improved to 3-1-1 on their current six-game road trip, beating the Laredo Bucks, 2-1, Friday night at Laredo Energy Arena.

Arizona is 6-1-3 in their last 10 games away from Tim's Toyota Center and has earned 17 of their 21 points on the road this season.

Kyle Hood opened scoring just 21 seconds into the contest with his second goal of the year, extending his current point streak to five games. Skating behind the net, Hood circled to the far faceoff circle and sent a wrist shot past Pier Pelletier to give Arizona an early 1-0 lead.

With his club on a 5-on-3 power play, Sides extended his club's lead to two just over five minutes later, lifting a backhand over Pelletier at the far post for his second point of the night and eighth point in four games.

Jason Visser was plus-1 on the night and finished with a pair of assists in the win.

Reid Edmondson collected his club's lone goal midway through the contest, redirecting a Chris Pontes turnaround shot from the blue line past Groenestege with 7:54 remaining in the second period.

Laredo pulled Pelletier in favor of an extra attacker in the game's closing moments but Groenestege held on for his second win in as many starts.

Arizona finished 1-of-4 with the man advantage and held the Bucks scoreless on four power play opportunities.

With the win the Sundogs (9-10-3) have earned points in nine of their last 13 games, improving to 7-3-3 in that span, and move into a four-way tie for fourth place in the Berry Conference, just two points back of third-place Texas.

Arizona looks to close out its road trip tomorrow at 6:30pm (Arizona time) against the Rio Grande Valley Killer Bees (8-12-2). Listen to the game live online at www.cattlecountryradio.com and on KDDL 'Cattle Country' 94.3FM, the Official Radio Home of Arizona Sundogs Hockey.
