Americans Sting Bees 4-2 in South Texas

HIDALGO, Texas- The Allen Americans defeated the Rio Grande Valley Killer Bees Friday night, 4-2 at State Farm Arena in Hidalgo. With the win, The Americans moved to 17-4-1, while the Killer Bees fell to 8-12-2.

The Americans jumped out early on the Bees, when Bruce Graham scored just 23 seconds into the game to make it 1-0 Allen. The Graham goal would stand up to be the only goal of the period for either team. Allen's newly signed goaltender Scott Campbell stopped all 11 shots he faced in the frame.

The second period was another lone goal frame for the Americans, with David Strathman scoring 7:57 into the period to give Allen a 2-0 lead. Strathman's goal was assisted by Kip Brennan, who also fought in the first period of play. Campbell again came up with 11 saves on 11 shots in the period.

Rio Grande Valley got on the board in the third period, with a Zak McClellan marker just 1:18 into the stanza. Colton Yellow Horn moved the score back to a two-goal advantage for the Americans, making it a 3-1 game with his 8th of the season.

Sean Muncy brought the ‚¬ËœBees back within one-goal, scoring just over 30 seconds after Yellow Horn to make the score 3-2.

Nino Musitelli registered his 11th of the season at 11:44 to give himself a 3 point night (1+2=3), and give his team a 4-2 lead.

The Americans will return to Allen Friday, December 17th and Saturday, December 18th. On the 17th, the Americans will host the Texas Brahmas at 7:30 PM for the first game this season of the North Texas Vintage Game Series. This year, the Americans will be wearing Dallas Freeze jerseys, while the Brahmas will sport Fort Worth Fire uniforms.

On the 18th, the Americans will host the Tulsa Oilers at 7:00 PM.
