INDEPENDENCE, Mo. (December 10, 2010) - Mike McLean scored two goals, Adam Russo made 38 saves and the debuting Kevin Jarman scored what proved to be the game winner on a third period power play as the Quad City Mallards defeated the host Missouri Mavericks 4-3 Friday night.

Jarman made his first game for the Mallards a one by burying the puck from the left wing circle at 6:58 of the third to give the Mallards what was, at the time, a 4-2 lead. Jarman's goal loomed all the larger after Missouri's Ray DiLauro jammed the puck in from the goalmouth to cut the gap to 4-3 at 10:14 of the third.

The Mallards in the end had to sweat out a one goal win after early in the evening jumping on the Mavericks for three goals in five minutes and 44 seconds. Zac Pearson's wrist shot from the left wing circle triggered the Quad City onslaught at 4:20 of the first period. The Mallards were on the power play when McLean doubled the lead from a sharp angle at 8:09. In the wake of the second Mallard goal the Mavericks replaced starting goaltender Gerry Festa with Rob Nolan. Nolan had been in the game for just under two minutes when McLean struck again, this time jamming in a shorthanded goal from the side of the net.

The Mavericks battled back to cut the Mallard lead to 3-2 with a pair of second period goals. Just shy of the midway point of the second, Walker Wintoneak steered Ryan Jardine's centering pass home to put Missouri on the scoreboard for the first time. The Mavericks pulled within one when Jardine buried a rebound with 1:29 left in the period, but Missouri would get no closer.
