Rapid City Rush News Release

(Evansville, IN) - In the first of two meetings with the Evansville IceMen, the Rapid City Rush earned a 2-1 victory at Swonder Ice Arena on Friday night. Josh Beaulieu and Colt King each lit the lamp for the Rush while Danny Battochio stopped 26 shots for his 10th win of the season. The two teams will meet again tomorrow at 6:35pm MST.

Josh Beaulieu scored his second goal in as many nights to give Rapid City a 1-0 lead at the 5:13 mark of the first. A cycle by Kevin Harvey was picked up by Andrew Smale who slid a centering pass to Beaulieu who fired a shot to the top-right corner. Evansville fought back at 12:48 on a shorthanded goal by Anton Kharin who finished a breakaway with a wrist shot under the blocker of Danny Battochio. After the first period, the score sat at 1-1 despite the Rush holding a 12-5 advantage in shots.

It took nearly 40 minutes for the 1-1 tie to be broken, but finally at the 11:39 mark of the third period, Colt King snapped an eight-game goalless drought. As the Rush entered the offensive zone, King accepted a pass near the blueline and fired a slapshot that trickled through the five-hole of Lundin for the 2-1 final

Danny Battochio made 26 saves to pick up his 10th win of the season while Matt Lundin stopped 42 shots in the loss. Both teams finished the game 0-for-5 on the powerplay.

Rapid City now moves to 11-8-4 and remain within one point of first place in the Turner Conference.
