Charleston Dirty Birds News Release

Charleston, WV (August 3, 2010) - West Virginia Power Head Mascot Charlie announced today that he, along with the rest of the "Power Pack", will be leaving the West Virginia Power on Monday, August 30th. The West Virginia Power also announced that they will unveil a new mascot on Tuesday, August 31st. The new face of the Power will make his first public appearance in the middle of the second inning during the Tuesday game against the Rome Braves.

After serving six great seasons in Charleston, the Power mascots, Axe, Gusty, Pyro, Hydro and Charlie, have decided that it is time to take their talents elsewhere. The "Power Pack", as they are commonly referred to, will head to Washington, D.C. and lend their knowledge and experience with power and energy to the lobbyists and politicians in an effort to pass an effective energy bill.

"These guys have done a great job for us these past few years," stated Executive Vice President of Palisades Baseball Andy Milovich. "They were instrumental in the opening and the success of the new ballpark. We are sad to see them go but support their decision and wish them all the best in their endeavors at our nation's capitol. However, we are also very excited to welcome a new member to the West Virginia Power family."

Following the initial appearance and introduction to the public, the new mascot, along with Milovich, will hold a press conference in The Clubhouse banquet room at Appalachian Power Park. All members of the press are invited and encouraged to attend.

According to Milovich, the new mascot, whose name will be revealed at the press conference, is fun loving and a perfect fit for the organization. The mascot will also play an instrumental role in the team's community outreach and school programs.
