August 17, 2010 - South Atlantic League (SAL1)
Asheville Tourists News Release
South Atlantic League playoff tickets for the Asheville Tourists home games will go on sale Thursday, August 19, at 10 a.m. at the McCormick Field box office. Playoff tickets will remain the same price as regular-season tickets, with adult advance prices only $7 for general admission and $10 for box seats. Children, military and senior prices in advance are $6 for general admission and $8 for box seats.
For the team's first potential playoff game, the Tourists will admit kids 12 and under free of charge for general admission seating.
"Some of my most memorable moments growing up were watching playoff baseball games with my family, and I want to make sure all of our fans have the same opportunity," said Brian DeWine, president of the Tourists and DeWine Seeds Silver Dollar Baseball. "The 2010 season has been a great first year for our family in Asheville, and this is just one small way we can thank the fans for their incredible support."
After Monday night's thrilling come-from-behind victory in the bottomof the ninth inning, the Tourists enter Tuesday's game at West Virginia tied with Greenville atop the second-half Southern Division standings. Should the Tourists reach post-season play, the team would host the Savannah Sand Gnats on Wednesday, September 8, beginning at 7:05 p.m. McCormick Field would be the site of the first two games of the championship series, on Monday and Tuesday, September 13-14, should the Tourists advance that far.
"Reaching the playoffs would be icing on the cake, and we want the fans to have the opportunity to come out by keeping ticket prices the same as the regular season," DeWine added. "In the meantime, the last three weeks of the season should be exciting."
The Tourists open a four-game series at West Virginia tonight before returning home on Saturday, August 21, for a four-game set against Savannah. The Tourists are also home August 30-September 2 when they host Hickory for the final regular-season series at McCormick Field. Tickets for all eight regular-season contests are on sale at the McCormick Field box office and online at www.theashevilletourists.com.
