
Rodriguez Sensational in 1-0 Defeat Tuesday

SAVANNAH, GA - The Savannah Sand Gnats dropped a taut pitchers' duel 1-0 to the Augusta GreenJackets on Tuesday night at Historic Grayson Stadium. Both starting pitchers were perfect through four innings and took no-hitters through two-outs in the sixth.
The GreenJackets (28-22/69-51) picked up the game's first base runner with a two out walk in the fifth, interrupting Savannah starter Armando Rodriguez's perfect game. Rodriguez gave up just one run in seven innings, tying a season-high with nine strikeouts. Hilton Head's Brian Harrison, in his first game with Savannah (22-29/64-57), reached on an error in the fifth, breaking up Augusta starter Chris Heston's perfecto. The GreenJackets' LF Nick Liles reached on an infield single with two outs in the top of the sixth for the game's first hit. CF Matt den Dekkercollected Savannah's first hit with a smash into left field with two outs in the sixth.
The bottom of the GreenJackets order scored the game's only run in the top of the eighth against Rodriguez. The number eight hitter, RF Ryan Lollistripled into right-center and scored on SS Ydwin Villegas' single towards the line in right. It was the second straight start for Rodriguez in which the Gnats were shut out, while he allowed just one earned run.
Savannah LF R.J. Harris was 2-4, accounting for three of Savannah's four hits.
The Gnats play game two of their four-game series with the Augusta GreenJackets Wednesday night at Historic Grayson Stadium at 7:05 when LHP Darin Gorski (5-7, 3.92) takes on RHP Zack Wheeler (2-3, 3.89). Gates open at 6 pm and the pregame show on News/Talk 630 and sandgnats.com begins at 6:50.

Tuesday, SS Wilfredo Tovar and 3B James Schroeder were transferred to SSA Brooklyn.
3B James Harrison and SS Luis Nieves were transferred to Savannah from Brooklyn.
Augusta has now won six games in a row.
