Omaha Storm Chasers News Release
LOUISVILLE, Ky. - After giving up a pair of runs in the first, the Storm Chasers shut out the Bats for the final nine innings to take game three. Omaha (53-60) earned win 4-3 over Louisville (48-66) in 10 innings, snapping a four-game skid. The Bats now lead the series 2-1 while Omaha leads the season series 8-7.
Louisville wasted little time taking the lead, hitting back-to-back home runs in the bottom of the first inning off the bats of Spencer Steer and Cristian Santana to open a 2-0 lead.
In his first game back with Triple-A Omaha, shortstop Maikel Garcia hit an RBI double to score center fielder Drew Waters and cut the Storm Chasers deficit to one in the third inning.
After giving up the pair of home runs in the first, left-hander Drew Parrish recorded his second consecutive quality start. He went 6.0 innings and allowed two earned runs on four hits and two walks with six strikeouts.
Garcia hit a single up the middle to start the eighth inning before stealing his third base at the Triple-A level. Right fielder Brewer Hicklen tied the game with an RBI single, now riding a 21-game on-base streak. Hicklen stole his 25th base of the season to put a runner in scoring position and moved to third on a wild pitch. Hicklen was stranded at third to end the inning with the score at 2-2.
Right-hander Ryan Weiss pitched the seventh and eighth, stranding a runner in scoring position in each inning to keep the score tied.
The Storm Chasers got a 1-2-3 ninth inning from left-hander Josh Dye (Win, 5-2) to send the game to extra innings.
In the top of the 10th, Waters hit a two-run homer to score pinch runner Clay Dungan and give Omaha the 4-2 lead.
In the bottom of the 10th, left-hander Sam Freeman got a pair of strikeouts and a flyout to secure the 4-2 win and earn his first save with Omaha.
The Storm Chasers and Bats will play on Friday in game four-of-six. First pitch is scheduled for 6:05 p.m. CDT with coverage starting at 5:45 p.m. on the Sarpy County Tourism Pregame Show on 1180 The Zone. Omaha is scheduled to start left-hander Austin Cox (4-7, 4.47) while Louisville looks to send Deck McGuire to the hill.
After this series, the Chasers return home for a six-game set against Scranton/Wilkes-Barre starting on August 23. The week is full of exciting events like Bro Tank Giveaway on Saturday the 27th and Imaginary Friend Day on Sunday the 28th.
