Washington Spirit Midfielder Leicy Santos Called up to Colombia Women's National Team for World Cup Qualifiers

Washington, D.C. - Washington Spirit midfielder Leicy Santos has been called up to the Colombia Women's National Team as the side gets ready to resume CONMEBOL Women's Nations League play, Colombia Football announced today. Las Cafeteras will take on Venezuela, Chile and Argentina later this month. This tournament continues to serve as a qualifier for the 2027 FIFA Women's World Cup.

Santos has been a mainstay of the Colombia roster, representing the country in two FIFA Women's World Cups (2015, 2023) and two Olympic Games (2016, 2024). When Las Cafeteras kicked off 2025-26 CONMEBOL Women's Nations League play last fall, Santos netted three goals and tallied an assist in two wins over Perú and Ecuador. Most recently, Santos tallied a goal and an assist in last month's SheBelieves Cup. Since joining the Spirit in the summer of 2024, Santos has appeared in 37 total matches for the club, tallying five goals and four assists.

vs Chile | Tuesday, April 14 at 9 p.m. EDT (Estadio Olímpico Pascual Guerrero, Cali, Colombia)

vs Argentina | Saturday, April 18 at 7 p.m. EDT (Estadio Ciudad de Lanús, Lanús, Argentina)

The Spirit will next take the pitch at Audi Field on Friday, April 24 when the side hosts the defending Shield winner Kansas City Current. Kicking off at 8 p.m. EDT, the match will see the top two teams from last season face off. Tickets are available at WashingtonSpirit.com/tickets.
