Last Week:
The Toronto Marlies posted a record of 2-0-0-1 in three games this past week. On Friday night, Toronto traveled to upstate New York where they defeated the Rochester Americans, AHL affiliate of the Buffalo Sabres, by a score of 4-2. Sam Carrick tallied the game winning goal while Drew MacIntyre stopped 24 of 26 shots.
On Saturday afternoon, the Marlies were defeated 2-1 in a shootout by the Iowa Wild, AHL affiliate of the Minnesota Wild. Peter Holland scored the lone Marlies goal, while Garret Sparks made 25 saves. In their final game of the week, Toronto defeated the Abbotsford Heat, AHL affiliate of the Calgary Flames, by a score of 6-4. The second period saw a combined eight goals, before Josh Leivo notched the game winning goal midway through the final frame. Drew MacIntyre earned his second victory of the week.
Look Ahead:
The Marlies will take to the ice for three games this coming week. On Friday night, the Utica Comets, AHL affiliate of the Vancouver Canucks, will play host to the Marlies for the second time this season. Puck drop is 7 p.m. at the Utica Memorial Auditorium. Pascal Pelletier leads the Comets in scoring with 55 points in 60 games this season.
The Marlies return home on Saturday afternoon at 3 p.m. to host the Rochester Americans. Phil Varone leads the Amerks with 51 points in 60 games. Toronto has posted a record of 4-2-0-1 against the Amerks this season. In their final game of the week, the Marlies will host Utica on Sunday afternoon at 3 p.m. The game can be seen live on Rogers Sportsnet 360.
