Amerks Sign Goaltender Billy Sauer to PTO

(Rochester, NY)... The Rochester Americans announced today that the team has signed goaltender Billy Sauer to a professional tryout contract.

Sauer, a 26-year-old native of Rochester, appeared in 21 ECHL games during the 2011-12 season with the Greenville Road Warriors, Gwinnett Gladiators, Florida Everblades and South Carolina Stingrays. He has played a total of 58 career ECHL games and appeared in 15 AHL games with the Lake Erie Monsters during the 2009-10 campaign. Prior to his professional career, Sauer enjoyed a standout college career at the University of Michigan. The 6-foot-2, 195-pound Sauer was originally selected by the Colorado Avalanche in the seventh round (201st overall) of the 2006 NHL Entry Draft.
