Ducks Assign William Karlsson to Norfolk

ANAHEIM, Calif. -- The Anaheim Ducks announced Wednesday that the team has assigned Swedish center William Karlsson to their primary development affiliate in the American Hockey League (AHL), the Norfolk Admirals.

Karlsson, 21, played in Sweden's top league, Elitserien, for the past two seasons from 2012-2014. For HV71, Karlsson skated in 105 games recording 19 goals, 46 assists and 26 penalty minutes over those two seasons. He was also named the league's Rookie of the Year in 2012-13 when he posted four goals and 24 assists to go along with a plus-17 rating.

The Ducks selected the 6-0, 176-pound center in the second round with the 53rd pick in the 2011 NHL Entry Draft. Karlsson was ranked 21st overall by Central Scouting amongst European skaters prior to the draft.

He won gold at the 2012 U20 World Junior Championships with Sweden and silver in the 2013 World Junior Championships.
