Chicago Wolves News Release

The Chicago Wolves are proud to announce that right wing Michael Davies has been named the team's winner of the ioa/american specialty ahl man of the year award for his outstanding contributions to the Chicago community during the 2013-14 season. In his fourth season with the Wolves, DAVIES has long been a fan favorite for his hustle on the ice and involvement with the city and surrounding suburbs off of it. The 27-year-old forward has been a fixture during the team's community efforts, whether making his monthly visits to Lurie Children's Hospital in Chicago or playing his role at the Wolves' many charity fundraisers.

The Chesterfield, Mo., native was a welcome participant in the Bingo games at the hospital, where he helped to ensure every child throughout the building could be a part of the games even when they weren't well enough to join the group. He has been a staple in the library- visit lineup for the Wolves' Read to Succeed program, which benefits thousands of children in the Chicago area each year by offering rewards for setting and achieving reading goals. Additionally he appeared at both the Brews & Bites and Get Fed by the Wolves fundraisers, along with events for season ticket holders and members of the Skates Mates Kids Club.

DAVIES is now one of 30 finalists for the AHL's 2013-14 yanick dupre memorial award, honoring the overall IOA/American Specialty AHL Man of the Year. The league award is named after the former Hershey Bears forward and AHL All-Star who died in 1997 following a 16-month battle with leukemia. The winner of the Yanick Dupre Memorial Award will be announced by the American Hockey League later this month.
