Binghamton Signs Two to ATOs

BINGHAMTON, NY -The Binghamton Senators announced today they have signed forwards Ryan Dzingel and Garrett Thompson to amateur tryouts.

Dzingel, 6-0 and 187-pound forward, just completed his junior season with Ohio State where he played in 37 games while compiling a team-leading 22 goals and 46 points. The 22-year-old native of Wheaton, Ill., has recorded 108 points (45 goals, 63 assists) in 110 career games with the Buckeyes.

Prior to joining Ohio State, Dzingel played two seasons with the Lincoln Stars of the United States Hockey League where he scored 93 points (34 goals, 59 assists) in 90 contests.

Dzingel will wear number 21 with the B-Sens.

Thompson signs his amateur tryout with Binghamton one day after signing a one-year entry-level contract with the B-Sens National Hockey League affiliate the Ottawa Senators. Thompson recently completed his senior collegiate season when his Ferris State Bulldogs fell 2-1 in overtime to North Dakota in the Western Collegiate Hockey Association's Midwest Regional final on March 29.

A native of Traverse City, Mich., Thompson played in 42 games this past season, scoring a team-high 16 goals and adding 16 assists to tie for the team lead with 32 points. Thompson, one of the team's assistant captains, also recorded 42 penalty minutes. In four years with the Bulldogs, the 24-year-old recorded 87 points (42 goals, 45 assists) over 139 games.

Prior to attending Ferris State, the 6-2, 191-pound, winger spent three seasons (2007-08, 2008-09, and 2009-10) with the Traverse City (Mich.) North Stars of the North American Hockey League (NAHL), where he scored 40 goals and added 40 assists in 121 games.

Thompson will wear number 17 with Binghamton.

Binghamton returns to action this Friday, April 4, when they visit Rochester for the final game of the eight-game season series against the Amerks. Saturday and Sunday the B-Sens are back on home ice versus East Division rivals.
