Andrew Joudrey Named Springfield Falcons' IOA/American Specialty AHL Man of the Year

Springfield, Mass. - The Springfield Falcons are proud to announce that Andrew Joudrey has been named the team's winner of the IOA/American Specialty AHL Man of the Year award for his outstanding contributions to the Greater Springfield community during the 2013-14 season.
Joudrey participated in a number of the team's community efforts as well as performing duties above and beyond the norm. In December, he and several players visited the Friends of the Homeless, a homeless shelter located in downtown Springfield, to serve dinner leading up to the holiday season. In addition to the visit, Joudrey collected monetary donations from the other players on the team, bought essential items for living such as winter clothing and toiletries, and delivered them to the shelter as a donation from the team.
The Bedford, Nova Scotia native participated in several Stick to Reading visits and youth hockey practices, while also, with the help of his wife Sandy, spearheaded the team's involvement with the autographed holiday ornament and puck grab bag sales. Proceeds from these sales, held at Falcons home games, benefited local organizations such as Baystate Children's Hospital and the YWCA of Western Massachusetts through relationships with the Springfield Falcons Charitable Foundation.
Joudrey is now one of 30 finalists for the AHL's 2013-14 Yanick Dupre Memorial Award, honoring the overall IOA/American Specialty AHL Man of the Year. The league award is named after the former Hershey Bears forward and AHL All-Star who died in 1997 following a 16-month battle with leukemia. The winner of the Yanick Dupre Memorial Award will be announced by the American Hockey League later this month.
