Toivonen, Morrisonn named to "The Hockey News" top 50 prospects list

Providence Bruins goaltender Hannu Toivonen and Boston Bruins defenseman Shaone Morrisonn have been named by The Hockey News among the Top 50 Prospects in Hockey. Both players were former first-round picks by the Boston Bruins.

Toivonen, a 19-year-old rookie from Kalvola, Finland, was Boston's first pick, 29th overall, in the 2002 NHL Entry Draft. He was ranked 11th on the prospects list. Toivonen is 10-11-4 with a 2.27 GAA and .924 save percentage in 26 games with Providence. He also has one shutout. Toivonen went back to Finland in December to play for his country in the World Junior Championships, leading his team to the Bronze Medal.

Morrisonn, a 21-year-old native of Vancouver, British Columbia, was ranked 49th in the list. He was Boston's first pick, 19th overall, in the 2001 NHL Entry Draft. He began the season with Providence, posting two assists in 18 games, before being recalled by Boston on December 29. Morrisonn has 1-6-7 totals in 24 games with Boston, and scored his first NHL goal on January 1.

The Providence Bruins host two games this weekend, beginning on Friday, February 20 at 7:05 p.m., when they face off with the Manchester Monarchs. They also host the Worcester IceCats on Sunday at 4:05 p.m.
