Blackhawks sign Adam Munro

The Chicago Blackhawks announced today that the team has signed goaltender Adam Munro. In keeping with club policy, terms of the agreement were not disclosed.

Munro, began the season with the Gwinnett Gladiators of the East Coast Hockey League before signing a professional tryout contract (PTO) with the Blackhawks American Hockey League affiliate, the Norfolk Admirals. While with Gwinnett (ECHL), he appeared in six games posting a 4-1-1 record and a 2.76 goal against average (17ga / 370 minutes played). Munro originally signed a 25 game PTO with the Admirals on November 20, 2003 and signed another on January 17, 2004. While at Norfolk, he appeared in 12 games posting a 5-4-1 record and a 2.24 goal against average (26ga / 695 minutes played) and a .902 save percentage.

Munro, 21, played his junior hockey for the Erie Otters in the Ontario Hockey League (1999-2002). He was the Blackhawks' 1st round selection (29th overall) in the 2001 National Hockey League Entry Draft.

Munro will dress for the Norfolk Admirals game tonight before joining the Blackhawks on Thursday morning, February 19, 2004.
