Moose present fifth annual "Follow Your Dreams"

The Manitoba Moose are proud to announce for the fifth consecutive year, the AHL team will host "Follow Your Dreams" - Aboriginal Youth Day is an event designed to provide Aboriginal students with positive role models and inspiration for the future. This year's event will take place this weekend on Saturday, February 21 when the Moose take on the the San Antonio Rampage. This year, the event will also be part of CBC's nationally broadcast "Hockey Day in Canada".

This year's special guests will be the aboriginal hip hop artists Slangblossom and former NHL Coach of the Year Ted Nolan. Nolan now spends his time talking to youth across the country about living a healthy lifestyle that reflects positive choices. He is the father of current Manitoba Moose rookie Brandon Nolan.

Both Slangblossom and Ted Nolan will hold interactive discussions with Aboriginal youth at 3:30 p.m. Doors will open at 2:30 p.m. Slangblossom will be available to sign autographs in between the periods of Saturday's game and will drop the ceremonial puck prior to the contest. Ted Nolan will also step on the ice as a guest instructor with the WASAC-Lil Moose – a group of 32 youths selected from schools around Winnipeg with Aboriginal or Metis background who have bene provided new equipment and have been learning skills of hockey once a week at the Winnipeg Arena.

The Moose organization would like to send out a sincere thank-you to all of the organizations who have decided to be a part of a successful event. The Moose will host over 5,500 Aboriginal youths thanks to the following organizations:

February 21, 2004 is also a special day in Canada as CBC and "Hockey Night in Canada" recognize the country's passion and love for the game of hockey with "Hockey Day in Canada". All day long, CBC will be broadcasting NHL hockey featuring Canadian based teams. As part of their special coverage, CBC selects live remote sites to feature on their broadcast. Winnipeg has been selected as a live remote site to feature several activities that will take place that day, including live updates of the game between the Moose and Rampage during CBC's broadcast of the Toronto Maple Leafs vs. the Montreal Canadiens.
