Tides to Host Free Prostate Education Event on Friday, July 1st
June 29, 2016 - International League (IL1)
Norfolk Tides News Release
The Norfolk Tides will be hosting a Home Run for Life event at Harbor Park on Friday, July 1 during that night's game with the Durham Bulls. The Home Run for Life initiative is an effort to help curb prostate cancer, which is very treatable with early detection.
On July 1st, the Hampton Roads Prostate Health Forum, along with doctors and staff from Urology of Virginia and the Sentara Cancer Network, will provide free education and counseling for men between the ages of 40-80. In addition, each man who participates will receive a voucher for free admission to a future non-restricted Tides game. Fans can sign up to participate for the free counseling at a table behind home plate on the Harbor Park concourse.
In addition to the Home Run for Life event, July 1st is also Ed Randall Bat for the Cure Prostate Awareness Night at Harbor Park. During that night's game, players will wear blue wristbands and the bases will be painted blue to help raise awareness for prostate cancer early detection.
The Tides return to Harbor Park on Thursday, June 30 for a four-game series against the Durham Bulls. Tickets can be purchased online via NorfolkTides.com or in person at the Harbor Park box office.
