INDIANAPOLIS, IN - The Indianapolis Indians (42-37) scored four runs in the bottom of the first and never looked back in a 5-0 win over the Gwinnett Braves (35-45) Wednesday afternoon in the finale of the three-game series at Victory Field.

In the bottom of the first, G-Braves starting pitcher Aaron Blair walked lead-off batter Alan Hanson and gave up a single to Gift Ngoepe to put runners on the corners. Two batters later, Josh Bell was intentionally walked to load the bases. However, a hard ground ball hit by Dan Gamache, which could have been an inning-ending double play, got past the outstretched glove of Gwinnett second baseman Emerson Landoni, and went into right-center for a two-run double. Willy Garcia then hit a ground ball off the glove of Rio Ruiz at third, scoring Bell for a 3-0 advantage. The final run of the first came as Pedro Florimon got Gamache from third with a bunt up the first base line.

The only other run of the game came in the bottom of the seventh, when Max Moroff doubled off Gwinnett reliever Bradley Roney with two outs and scored on a single to right by Bell.

Blair (L, 3-1) settled down after the first inning, managing to complete 6.0 innings. He allowed seven hits and four runs, while walking four and striking out five. Roney yielded two hits and a run in the seventh and Brandon Cunniff pitched a scoreless bottom of the eighth.

For the Indians, staring pitcher Frank Duncan (W, 5-3) baffled the G-Braves all afternoon, holding Gwinnett to just five hits over 7.0 innings. The right-hander registered seven strikeouts and didn't walk a batter. John Kuchno and Jhondaniel Medina closed it out for Indianapolis with a scoreless inning of relief each.

The Indians won the series 2-1, and lead the season series 4-3 with three games between the teams still to be played at Coolray Field July 26-28.

At the plate, Reid Brignac had the only multi-hit game for Gwinnett, going 2-for-4.

For the Indians, Bell was 3-for-3 with an RBI and a run, while Garcia was 2-for-4 with an RBI.

The seven-game road trip continues for the G-Braves Thursday night at 7:05 p.m. with the opener of a four-game series in Louisville, against the Bats. The G-Braves starting pitcher has yet to be announced and Louisville will send righty Jon Moscot (4-3, 5.30). Tony Schiavone has the call of the action beginning at 6:35 p.m. on 97.7 FM.
