Louisville Bats News Release
LOUISVILLE, Ky. - The Louisville Bats lost two leads and their third straight game, falling to the Buffalo Bisons 4-3 on Wednesday night at Louisville Slugger Field.
In the first inning, Steve Selsky hit a two-run home run to give the Bats a 2-0 lead after one inning of play.
For making an impromptu start for the Bats, left-hander Wandy Peralta (2-1, 2.76) was fantastic in his first start of the year. In his six innings of work, Peralta gave up two hits, zero runs, walked one and struck out two in the no-decision. Righty Drew Hayes relived Peralta and pitched two innings.
The Bisons broke through in the eighth inning against Hayes, tying the game at two on a Casey Kotchman double that narrowly found the chalk on the right field line.
Buffalo starter, left-hander Scott Diamond (5-7, 3.48) recorded a no-decision after seven innings in which he gave up two runs on four hits.
Curtis proved his all-star worth in the eighth inning by hitting a go-ahead home run to left, giving the Bats a 3-2 lead and tying the lead for most homers on the team.
The wheels came off for the Bats in the ninth as righty Dayan Diaz came in for the save and left with the Bisons leading 4-3 and the loss. Bisons lefty Colt Hynes was rewarded with the win for his pitching in the eighth inning and southpaw Aaron Loup followed with his first save of the season.
Tomorrow night at 7:05 p.m. the Bats will begin a four-game series at Louisville Slugger Field with the Gwinnett Braves. Right-hander Jon Moscot (4-3, 5.36) will face Braves right-hander Casey Kelly (2-4, 4.09).
