Pruitt, Floro Selected to International League All-Star Team
June 29, 2016 - International League (IL1)
Durham Bulls News Release
DURHAM, NC - Durham Bulls right-handed pitchers Austin Pruitt and Dylan Floro have been selected to the International League All-Star team, the league announced today. The pair will represent the organization at the 29th Annual Sonic Automotive Triple-A All-Star Game, presented by Gildan, on July 13 at BB&T Ballpark in Charlotte.
Pruitt, in his first year at the Triple-A level, is 6-5 with a 3.13 ERA for the Bulls in 16 starts this season. The 26-year-old is tied for the league-lead in starts and complete games (2), while ranking second on the circuit in innings pitched (92.0) and third in WHIP (1.02). In addition, the Plano, Texas native has issued just 13 walks compared to 84 strikeouts in 2016.
Originally selected by the Tampa Bay Rays in the ninth round of the 2013 draft out of the University of Houston, Pruitt's selection to the All-Star team marks the first time in his professional career he's earned midseason or postseason All-Star honors.
Joining Pruitt in Charlotte will be Floro, who's made a team-high 27 appearances this season. The 25-year-old is 1-2 with a 3.07 ERA out of the bullpen for Durham in 2016, while notching six saves in eight chances. The Merced, Calif. resident has struck out 35 batters in 44.0 innings this year, while walking just six in his first year as a full-time reliever since 2012.
The honor for Floro marks the second time in his career he's been named a midseason All-Star, after he was named a 2013 Midwest League midseason All-Star with Single-A Bowling Green. Originally a 13th round pick by Tampa Bay out of Cal. State Fullerton in 2012, Floro was named the organization's Minor League Pitcher of the Year in 2013 when he went 11-2 with a 1.77 ERA between Bowling Green and Advanced-A Charlotte.
The 2016 International League All-Star team is made up of 13 elected players who received the most votes from ballots submitted by the club's field managers and general managers (1/3), members of the media (1/3), and online fan voting (1/3). The elected players are joined by 17 additional All-Stars selected by the International League office. The All-Star Game will be broadcast live on MLB Network, American Forces Network, MiLB.TV and the Triple-A All-Star Game Radio Network beginning at 7 p.m. EST on July 13.
The Durham Bulls return to the DBAP for a seven-game homestand on Monday, July 4. Single-game tickets and group ticket packages are available now. For more information visit durhambulls.com, the Frontier Communications Ticket Office, or call 919.956.BULL.
