Thunder End July with Blowout Win

(Binghamton, NY)- Noah Hall had four hits and three RBI, while Colin Curtis added three hits and four runs scored, to lead the Trenton Thunder to a 9-1 win over Binghamton on Tuesday. And with the victory, Trenton finishes July with a 17-11 record.

The Thunder (65-42) jumped on B-Mets starter Marcos Carvajal for four early runs. After Trenton took advantage of four walks in the 1st Inning for a 1-0 lead. Trenton added three more runs in the 2nd Inning on an RBI triple by Curtis, an RBI single by RF Bronson Sardinha and an RBI double by Hall. Carvajal (5-8) worked just two innings in the loss. He allowed four runs and four hits with four walks and one strikeout.

Thunder starter Alan Horne allowed only one run over six innings for the win. Horne (10-3) scattered seven hits with two walks and six strikeouts. Binghamton (45-62) scored their only run of the game on an infield hit by SS J.E. Cruz in the 5th Inning. Three straight hits by Corona, Curtis and Sardinha, along with a wild pitch, scored tow more runs in the 6th Inning for a 6-1 lead. The lead went to 7-1 in the 7th Inning on a double by Sardinha and a single by Hall.

Then, they capped the night with two more runs in the 9th Inning on a sacrifice fly from Sardinha and an RBI double from Hall. Combined, the top four batters in the Trenton lineup were 13-for-20 with eight runs scored and seven RBI.

The series continues on Tuesday at 7:05 PM. Trenton's starter is TBA, while Binghamton will send Salvador Aguilar (5-5, 5.53) to the mound.
