Portland Sea Dogs News Release

(Bowie, MD) - John Otness produced an RBI single in the top of the ninth inning with two outs, leading the Sea Dogs to a 4-3 victory over the Bowie Baysox on Tuesday night at Prince George's Stadium. Andrew Pinckney began the rally with a two-out triple off losing pitcher Nick McCurdy (1-3).

Hunter Jones (2-0) closed out the victory, despite blowing the save in the eighth inning when former Sea Dog Luis Jimenez delivered a run-scoring single, tying the game at three. Jones struck out the side in the ninth inning and finished with four punch outs in two innings on two hits and one unearned run.

Justin Masterson took his first no-decision of his Double-A career, firing seven strong innings for Portland. The righty yielded five hits, two runs, three walks and two strikeouts. Bowie starter Fredy Deza also pitched seven innings, allowing four hits, three runs and two homers.

Before Jimenez got back at his former teammates in the eighth, Corey Keylor, who played with Bowie last season, snapped a 2-2 tie with a two-out solo homer in the seventh inning. Keylor hit .294 with the Baysox in 2006 and was the Baltimore Orioles minor league player of the year.

Portland got off to a quick start, scoring two first inning runs off Deza when Iggy Suarez launched a two-run homer to left field. Bowie scored their first run in the second inning on Jeff Fiorentino's RBI double and tied the game in the fourth inning on a run-scoring groundout by Eli Whiteside.

The Sea Dogs ended a three-game losing streak and snapped Bowie's 9-game winning streak. On Wednesday night, Portland looks for the series win with Felix Diaz making his third start of the season. Bowie will counter with lefty Oscar Alvarez.
