New Hampshire Fisher Cats News Release
Harrisburg, PA- Sergio Santos belted a pair of doubles and scored on Chip Cannon's eighth-inning double, but the New Hampshire Fisher Cats dropped the opener of a three-game series at Commerce Bank Park, 10-1, to the Harrisburg Senators on Tuesday night.
Frank Diaz went 4-for-5 with five RBI to pace a 14-hit attack for Harrisburg (37-73), which snapped a five-game losing skid. Diaz delivered the RELCO Enlightening Play of the Game when he drilled his thirteenth home run of the season, a three-run shot off Eric Fowler in the bottom of the first inning that jump-started a six-run frame for the Senators.
Fowler (3-4) was lifted with two outs in the first after allowing six runs on seven hits. He struck out one and hit a batter.
Matt Roney pitched a season-high 3.1 innings of relief, and his six strikeouts were the most by a Fisher Cats' reliever this season.
Rob Cosby went 3-for-4 with three singles for New Hampshire (55-54), which struggled against Harrisburg starter Beltran Perez.
Perez (6-5) scattered six hits over seven shutout innings, striking out four and walking two.
Reliever Alex Morales served up Cannon's RBI double in the eighth inning that scored Santos, who had walked, from first base.
Zechry Zinicola pitched a scoreless ninth.
Dan Dement (3-for-5, 2 R, 2 2B), and Dee Brown (2-for-3, RBI, BB, R) added multi-hit games for the Senators.
New Hampshire looks to even the series Wednesday night at 6:35pm when left-hander Kurt Isenberg (3-8, 5.83) takes the mound against Harrisburg right-hander Jim Magrane (2-8, 4.25). Radio coverage begins at 6:15pm on the WGIR Fisher Cats Radio Network (610-AM, Manchester; 930-AM, Rochester; 1540-AM, Exeter) with Mike Murphy.
