Senators Top Five Million Fans

The Harrisburg Senators franchise topped the five-million-fan mark Tuesday at Commerce Bank Park. Heading into the series opener with the New Hampshire Fisher Cats, the Senators needed just 249 fans to reach the milestone. Tuesday's attendance was 2783.

All Fans in attendance at Commerce Bank Park on Tuesday were eligible to win a major prize package as the team celebrated breaking the five million fan mark.

George Young of Middletown was selected at the end of the game as the five millonth fan and he won a $2,250 prize package, which included 2008 box season tickets with parking.

George, a 57 year-old employee of Penn State Middletown,will also get Senators' tickets to use this season, autographed items, a picnic with friends next year, Washington Nationals tickets with parking at RFK Stadium and much more. George says he has attended Senators games since the first season.

A second, Mickey Bueno of Mechanicsburg and third, Ruth Heishman of Shiremanstown, place prize were also awarded after the game

The Harrisburg Senators are competing in their 21st season in the Eastern League since baseball returned to City Island in 1987. The five-million-fan total is for the regular season and only included games played in the team's modern history.

The Senators topped the one million mark on July 22, 1991 when, then, 14-year-old Jim Hagen came trough the gates of RiverSide Stadium. Brenden Tribeck was the Senators' four millionth fan on August 2, 2003 when he attended the Senators' game with his family. Brenden was four years old when he pulled down the honor. Now, almost exactly four years later, the Senators hit 5,000,000.
