Jackson Lands On D.L.

(Trenton, NJ)- The Trenton Thunder, Class AA Affiliate of the N.Y. Yankees, announced today that RHP Steven Jackson has also been placed on the Disabled List with a sore right shoulder. C Dan Conway has been given his outright release by the N.Y. Yankees and C Omir Santos has been transferred from Scranton/Wilkes-Barre (AAA) to Trenton.

Jackson, acquired from the Arizona Diamondbacks last November in the Randy Johnson trade, had appeared in two games with Trenton and allowed 5 R in 5.0 IP. He started the 2007 season with Scranton/Wilkes-Barre and posted a 4-8 record with a 5.87 ERA in 18 games (11 starts). Last year, Jackson had an 8-11 record with a 2.65 ERA for Tennessee of the Southern League.

Conway was signed by the Yankees on July 2nd and assigned to Trenton. He had two hits, including a home run in Sunday's game at Reading, but had a .207 BA, HR, 6 RBI in eight games. He started the 2007 season in the Cincinnati organization, appearing with Chattanooga (AA) and Louisville (AAA). Conway had a combined .161 BA, HR, 5 RBI.

Santos was an All-Star for the Thunder in 2005 and had a .269 BA, 4 HR, 38 RBI for Trenton in 2006. He had been with Scranton/Wilkes-Barre this season, batting .234, 3 HR, 19 RBI.

These moves come on the heels of two moves made yesterday with SS Alberto Gonzalez being promoted to Scranton/Wilkes-Barre and SS Reegie Corona being promoted to Trenton from Tampa (A).

Trenton begins a three-game series with the Binghamton Mets in Binghamton, NY on Tuesday. Alan Horne (9-3, 2.36) starts for Trenton against the Mets' Marcos Carvajal (5-7, 4.09) The Thunder return home to host the Bowie Baysox, the Class AA Affiliate of the Baltimore Orioles, on Friday, August 3rd.
