Thunder Edged in Shootout

WICHITA, KS- The Wichita Thunder lost 3-2 in a shootout to the Bloomington Prairie Thunder at the INTRUST Bank Arena on Saturday night.

John Snowden scored the shootout's lone goal, shooting past the left of Peter Delmas on Bloomington's first attempt. Bloomington goaltender Brad Phillips, who subbed for an injured Marco Emond early in the first period, stopped all five shots as well as 30 of 32 in regulation and overtime for the win. Delmas was also strong in his Thunder debut, stopping 33 of 35 in regulation and overtime.

Bloomington took a 1-0 lead at 11:54 in the first on a goal from Anthony Ciraulo. Brent Holmberg skated through the left faceoff circle and made a last-second pass to Ciraulo who scored to the left of Delmas.

Matt Robinson potted two goals in a span of 44 seconds to give Wichita a 2-1 lead in the second. Jesse Bennefield made a backhand pass across the low-slot where Robinson scored over Phillips' right shoulder at 8:17 to make it 1-1. Robinson's second came from the opposite side of the crease after Bennefield worked the puck around the right post before making another perfect pass.

Wichita's 40 shots were a new season-high. The Thunder was 1 for 5 on the power play while going 5 for 5 on the penalty kill.

The Thunder plays at Odessa on Thursday, November 18th.
