
Bucks Fall in Bossier 5-1

BOSSIER CITY, LA- The Laredo Bucks of the Central Hockey League fell to the Bossier-Shreveport Mudbugs 5-1 Saturday night at the CenturyTel Center. The Bucks dropped their fourth straight game as they fall to 4-6-1 (nine points) on the season.
David Rutherford had two goals and an assist while Brian Foster stopped 19 of 20 shots he faced to lead the Mudbugs (10-4, 20 points) to their third straight win.
Laredo has lost four straight games in regulation for the first time since January of 2005.
The Bucks jumped out of the Mudbugs as they struck on a four-on-three power-play with 7:39 left in the first period. Serge Dube scored from the top of the right circle to pick up his second goal of the campaign.
The Bucks fall to 3-3 when scoring first this season.
The Mudbugs would score two goals in less than two minutes to take a 2-1 lead after the first period.
Rutherford tied the game at 1-1 with 5:22 left in the first when he hammered a slap shot in from the top of the slot to pick up his 10th of the season.
Bossier would take a 2-1 lead less than two minutes later when Steve Crampton stuffed in a long rebound from the right circle so score his fifth of the year.
The Mudbugs outshot the Bucks 13-11 in the first period, which featured two separate fights in the first 3:35 of the game.
Bossier would benefit from five second period power-plays to increase their lead to 4-1 after two periods of play.
Rutherford scored his second of the game when he jammed in a rebound on the power-play right in front of the net to make it 3-1 Mudbugs.
Bossier would go up 4-1 with 2:52 remaining in the second period when struck on a five-on-three power-play. Justin Aikens jammed in the puck from the right side of the crease thanks to a laser feed from Rutherford. The tally was Aiken's seventh of the season.
The Mudbugs were two-for-five on the power-play in the second period.
Bossier outshot the Bucks 12-7 in the period.
Joe Blaznek made it 5-1 Mudbugs with just 1:43 in the third period when he scored his eighth of the season from the right circle.
Bossier outshot Laredo 32-20 in the game.
Torrie Jung falls to 3-3 in net as he set aside 27 of 32.
The Bucks fall to 1-10 all-time in the regular season at the CenturyTel Center.
Bucks forward Aaron Boogard served a one-game suspension Saturday night.
