Quad City Mallards News Release
MOLINE, Ill. - Brandon Marino scored at 2:05 of overtime to give the host Quad City Mallards a 2-1 win over the Arizona Sundogs Saturday night.
Marino provided the winner in spectacular style by swooping around Arizona defenseman John Wessbecker and then cutting across the goalmouth to sweep the puck home.
The Mallards had to come from behind to force sudden death. Quad City trailed 1-0 until Mike McLean's power play blast from the top of the left wing circle tied the score at 4:20 of the third period.
Despite being outshot 17-12 in the first period, the Sundogs would grab the opening goal at 18:33 of the first while up 5-on-3 when Jason Williams walked in through the left wing circle and wristed the puck into the top corner.
The Mallards will visit the Mississippi RiverKings next Friday and the Bloomington PrairieThunder next Saturday before returning home to meet the Dayton Gems on Sunday, November 21 at 4:05 p.m. November 21 is the Mallards' second Family Day presented by APAC Customer Services, Inc., and Mix 96.
