Killer Bees Drop Brahmas In Shootout

NORTH RICHLAND HILLS, Texas- The Killer Bees (6-3-2) increased their Berry Conference lead over the Texas Brahmas (5-3-2) with a 4-3 shootout victory on Saturday night. Aaron Lee and Tomas Klempa scored in the shootout and Juliano Pagliero turned away all four shots he face.

The Killer Bees were in comeback mode all night never holding a lead throughout the game.

The Brahmas took the first lead of the game as Chad Woollard scored at the 12:11 mark. Woollard took a pass from Greg Hogeboom off the boards and came in untouched on Juliano Pagliero. Pagliero was able to get a piece of the puck but it would trickle between his pads pass the goal line.

The Killer Bees tied the game at one at the 12:03 mark of the second period when Ryan McLeod scored his second goal of the season. McLeod picked up the puck on the near side of the crease after a rebound from an Aaron Lee shot. McLeod took the forehanded shot which found the back of the open net. Aaron Lewicki earned the secondary assist.

The second period of the Bees was plagued by penalties,taking five overall. The Bees were able to kill off the first four, including close to two minutes total of five-on-three time but the Brahmas were finally able to beat Pagliero at the 15:03 mark when Calin Wild scored the power-play strike. The Killer Bees penalty kill was still good overall holding the Brahmas to 1 of 7 through the first two periods.

The Killer Bees would tie the game with a power-play strike of their own. Zak McClellan was alone in front at the near side circle and after being fed the puck buried it in the back of the net. Jake Obermeyer and Sean Muncy earned assists.

After the Brahams took a 3-2 lead the Killer Bees once again showed their resiliency by tying the game up once again. Ryan McLeod came streaking down the far side of the ice and fed Tomas Klempa in front who one-timed it to the back of the net.

The game would remain tie through the end of regulation forcing overtime. The teams would each have one great chance in the extra frame that was turned away. Aaron Lee and Zak McClellan came in a two-on-one. Lee tried to pass to McClellan but the pass was intercepted by the Brahmas defense. Just moments later Greg Hogeboom game in on a breakaway but his backhanded shot was turned away by Pagliero.

As the final horn sounded the game would proceed to a shootout. In the shootout Tomas Klempa and Aaron Lee scored for the Bees as Juliano Pagliero turned away the four attempts on him.

The Killer Bees remain on the road through Tuesday night when they face the Odessa Jackalopes. Killer Bees fans will be able to watch the game with a viewing party at The Office Bar and Grill. Details are available on killerbeehockey.com
