
Thunder Add Forward Mike Szmatula

Glens Falls, NY - The Adirondack Thunder, proud ECHL affiliate of the New Jersey Devils, have signed forward Mike Szmatula to a standard player contract.
Szmatula, 25, joins the Thunder to begin his professional career after he played for two seasons at both the University of Minnesota and Northeastern University. Szmatula collected 108 points (47-61-108) from 139 games played between the two schools. The Commerce Township, MI native tallied 68 points (28-40-68) from 73 games played with the Huskies before he transferred to Minnesota, where he amassed 40 points (19-21-40) from 66 games played. Szmatula appeared in the NCAA Tournament as a junior during the 2016-17 season.
The Thunder are back in action tonight evening as they square off with the Manchester Monarchs at 6:00 p.m. at SNHU Arena. Adirondack is home next for a pair of games next weekend, beginning on Saturday, March 31 against the Reading Royals.
