Eagles Win Streak Snapped in 3-2 Loss to Grizzlies

Colorado Eagles News Release

WEST VALLEY CITY, UT. - Utah forward Brendan Harms scored the game-winning goal 9:54 into the third period, as the Grizzlies scored three unanswered to defeat the Colorado Eagles 3-2 on Saturday. The loss brings to a halt a seven-game winning streak for Colorado. Forwards Ryan Olsen and Ryan Siiro each netted a goal in the losing effort.

Colorado would jump on top early when Olsen was sprung on a shorthanded breakaway at center ice that would set up a wrister from between the circles that would beat Utah goalie Brandon Wildung and put the Eagles on top 1-0 just 3:02 into the contest.

The lead would stretch to a pair just 1:38 later when Siiro tracked down a rebound on top of the crease and fed the puck into the back of the net to make it a 2-0 Eagles advantage at the 4:40 mark of the first period.

Utah would cut into the deficit when forward Mitch Maxwell skated into the low-slot and lifted a shot over the shoulder of Eagles goalie Lukas Hafner to trim Colorado's lead to 2-1 with 7:08 remaining in the opening 20 minutes of play.

Before the first period came to an end, the Grizzlies would draw even when forward Travis Howe stuffed home a rebound in the slot, tying the game at 2-2 with only 2:11 left in the period.

After a scoreless second period, a turnover by the Eagles deep in their own zone allowed Harms to skate through the bottom of the right circle and wire the puck past Hafner to put the Grizzlies in the lead, 3-2 with 10:06 remaining in the third period.

Colorado would pull Hafner in favor of the extra attacker, but they would draw no closer, falling by a final score of 3-2. Colorado finished the night going 0-for-3 on the power play and 5-for-5 on the penalty kill, including a shorthanded tally for Olsen.

The Eagles return to action when they travel to take on the Allen Americans at the Allen Event Center in Allen, Texas on Friday, March 30th at 6:05pm MT.
