Tulsa Oilers News Release

TULSA, OK - The Quad City Mallards handed the Tulsa Oilers a heartbreaking defeat Saturday with a buzzer-beating goal to break a 1-1 tie late in the third period at the BOK Center.

The Oilers heavily outshot the Mallards 19-8 in the first period, but Eric Hartzell turned away all 19, while Devin Williams stopped all eight in the scoreless frame.

Tulsa put up 12 shots in the second period, but were stymied again by Hartzell, who carried a 31-save shutout into the final stanza. The Mallards broke the scoreless deadlock late in the second period when Quentin Shore redirected a shot from the point into the Oilers net to make it 1-0 after two.

Oilers captain Adam Pleskach tied the score at 1-1 with a wraparound goal midway through the third period and the game looked headed for overtime. Shortly after killing off a penalty in the final minute, the Oilers struggled to clear the defensive zone, and the Mallards' Gergo Nagy scored with two seconds left to avoid overtime with a 2-1 win.

The Oilers will host Marvel Super Hero Night Sunday dressed as Captain America for the 4:05pm weekend finale against the Mallards. Stick around for a postgame skate with the players. Ticket information for both games is available on www.tulsaoilers.com or by calling 918-632-7825.
