Gwinnett Stripers News Release

NASHVILLE, Tenn. - The Gwinnett Stripers (29-37) rallied back from a 3-0 deficit to tie the game in the eighth inning, but the Nashville Sounds (34-31) took a 5-3 lead on Cam Devanney's two-run home run and won by that final score on Thursday night at First Horizon Park.

Decisive Plays: Homers by Brice Turang (2) and Mike Brosseau (1) opened a 3-0 lead for the Sounds through five. Gwinnett scratched out runs in the sixth, seventh, and eighth to tie the game at 3-3. The only RBI in that stretch came in the sixth, when Forrest Wall tripled and scored on a sacrifice fly by Vaughn Grissom. In the eighth, Yacksel Rios (L, 1-1) yielded his first home run of the season, Devanney's two-run clout to left (5) as Nashville went ahead 5-3.

Key Contributors: Wall went 1-for-4 with a triple and a run scored, while Joe Dunand went 1-for-4 with a double and Grissom went 0-for-2 with an RBI. For Nashville, Turang and Devanney each had two RBIs. Clayton Andrews (W, 2-0) struck out two over the final 1.1 innings of the game.

Noteworthy: Wall was caught stealing by Nashville catcher Alex Jackson in the first inning, the first time he's been caught in 40 attempts this year. Dunand is now batting .381 (16-for-42) with three doubles, five homers, 10 RBIs, and a 1.081 OPS in 11 games in June.
