
Scranton/wilkes-Barre Fall In Doubleheade

Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders News Release
Scranton/Wilkes-Barre dropped both games of a doubleheader to the Rochester. The Red Wings took the first game 6-3 and walked-off the second contest 8-7. The RailRiders had four homers on the day including two from Estevan Florial for a team-high sixteen on the season.
GAME 1 - BOX SCORE | ROC 6, SWB 3
The first five batters for Rochester reached successfully at the start of the contest. After Derek Hill was hit by a pitch, Jake Alu and Victor Robles singled to load the bases. A hit, a walk, and a sacrifice fly drove in three for an early lead.
Scranton/Wilkes-Barre got back in the game with two runs in the third. Jamie Westbrook walked and Jesus Bastidas doubled to put them both in scoring position. Back-to-back RBI singles from Michael Hermosillo and Estevan Florial made it 3-2.
In the bottom half, Carter Kieboom led off with a walk. A two-run shot from Jake Noll and an RBI single from Hill gave them a 6-2 advantage
The RailRiders inched back thanks to Franchy Cordero's solo homer in the sixth. That was as much as the team could muster with a final score of 6-3.
Randy Vasquez (L, 1-7) pitched 2.2 innings allowing six runs on seven hits. He walked three and struck out four. Aaron McGarity got the final out of the third and tossed a five pitch fourth. Colten Brewer and Matt Bowman each threw a clean frame.
Wily Peralta (W, 2-4) tossed five innings allowing just two runs on six hits. He struck out five. Andres Machado let up a solo homer in his frame. Tyler Danish (S, 5) closed it down in the ninth.
GAME 2 - BOX SCORE | ROC 8, SWB 7
Elijah Dunham smoked a home run in the first inning for an early 1-0 lead.
The RailRiders tacked on another in the third. Jesus Bastidas doubled and raced home on Estevan Florial's sacrifice fly.
Rochester plated three runs in the fourth. Matt Adams doubled in Carter Kieboom. Travis Blankenhorn's two-run shot gave them a 3-2 advantage.
The next frame the Red Wings recorded four consecutive base knocks. Jake Alu batted in one run and Kieboom chipped home two of his own. Rochester led 6-2.
The visitors chipped away at the lead with three runs in the sixth. Florial smashed his team-leading 16th home run of the season. Oswald Peraza recorded his first triple and came home on Andres Chaparro's sacrifice fly. It was 6-4 after six.
In the top of the seventh, the RailRiders rallied back. Bastidas and Wilmer Difo legged out singles to get aboard. Florial swatted his second home run of the game deep to left field. It was his fifth run batted in the contest for a 7-6 SWB advantage.
In the bottom half, the Red Wings were there to take the win. Alu and Matt Adams singled to put two on. Franmil Reyes laced a double up the left field line to walk things off for Rochester 8-7.
Johnny Brito got the start for SWB letting up six runs on seven hits. He struck out five. Greg Weissert (L, 1-2) struck out the side in the sixth. He let up two runs on three hits in the seventh.
Paolo Espino tossed five innings allowing two runs on two hits. Sean Doolittle let up a pair of runs in his frame. Jose A. Ferrer (W, 3-3) gave up three runs on a home run in the seventh.
