Homers from Vosler, Votto Carry Louisville Past St. Paul

LOUISVILLE, KY - The Bats earned their first win of the series against the St. Paul Saints with a final score of 6-3. Jason Vosler recorded his first two home run game of the season while Joey Votto notched his third home run of 2023.

The Bats tied up the game at the bottom of the first after Joey Votto hit his second home run in the last five games.

The bottom of the second saw similar action from the first inning when Jason Vosler hit a 433 foot home run, his 6th home run of the 2023 season.

Henry Ramos walked to kick off the bottom of the fourth, which was followed by yet another Vosler homer to extend the Bats lead to 4-1.

Louisville continued a solid offensive performance in the bottom of the fifth, starting with a Votto double on a line drive, scored by Christian Encarnacion-Strand.

Teddy Stankiewicz put up his best performance of the season, going 6.0 innings, allowing only one run on three hits, with a season-high six strikeouts and five walks.

The Saints added a run in both the seventh and eighth innings, cutting the bats lead to 5-3.

In the bottom of the eighth, Ramos hit a triple to put the insurance run in scoring position. Robinson hit a ground-rule double to score Ramos for a three-run lead.

The Bats will continue the six-game series against the Saint Paul Saints Friday night. The first pitch is scheduled for 7:15 pm E.T at Louisville Slugger Field.
