Brockton Rox News Release
BROCKTON, Mass. - Three members of the Brockton Rox will head to Florence, Kentucky for the 2026 Frontier League All-Star Game, headlined by center fielder Austin White, catcher Derek Bender, and pitcher Brendan O'Donnell. The Midsummer Classic will include a Home Run Derby on July 14 and the 2026 Y'all-Star Game presented by meetNKY, on July 15 at Thomas More Stadium. Both White and Bender have been voted as position starters.
For Austin White, this will be his second All-Star game appearance, with his first coming as a member of the New England Knockouts in 2024. A Frontier League veteran, White's consistency as the Rox everyday lead-off hitter has been crucial to Brockton's recent success. White leads the Rox in .OBP among everyday starters at .430, as well as walks with 42. With one of the best approaches at the plate in the Frontier League, every at-bat is a battle for opposing pitchers.
"I mean, I'd argue against anybody that White is the best centerfielder in the league," manager Jerod Edmondson said. "I think he is the most important player on anybody's team in the league."
White is just as dangerous on the basepaths, leading the Frontier League in stolen bases with 35. His ability to stretch a single base to two with his speed opens up the Rox offense, particularly with the power following him in the lineup.
The headliner for that power? Catcher Derek Bender. In his second season with the Brockton Rox, the first-time All-Star has improved on his promising first season in the Frontier League in 2025. The Rox leader in hits (64), RBI (47), batting average (.327) and slugging percentage (.577) is also tied for fourth in the Frontier League in homers at 13.
For much of the season, Brockton has relied on Bender to bring an offensive spark, and he has delivered. Bender has recorded a hit in 40 out of 51 appearances this season, including a 25-game hitting streak through late-May to mid-June.
"It's a crazy talent, and just preparation," Edmonson said. "Every time he's up to the plate, I think it's must watch TV for everybody."
The Rox final All-Star is left-handed reliever Brendan O'Donnell. The Rox closer has been the most consistent member of the Brockton pitching staff since the start of the season. In 21 appearances this season, O'Donnell maintains a 1.88 ERA and 0.83 WHIP, both best among Brockton's bullpen. O'Donnell's consistency as a closer has made him invaluable for Brockton, as his 11 saves lead the team.
"He's pitched great for us," Edmonson said. "We were able to find a really good role for him that obviously worked out great."
