Brockton Rox News Release
BROCKTON, Mass. - Brockton continued its string of recent roster transactions Thursday, signing utility fielder Greg Cristino as well as assigning right handed-pitcher Michael Quigley to the Seven-Day Injured List.
Cristino joins the Rox after finishing his final season at Merrimack College in 2026. In 230 at-bats with the Warriors, batted .296 with a .561 slugging percentage and a .375 on-base percentage.
He also led Merrimack in RBIs and home runs, with 57 and 14 respectively, helping the Warriors reach their first MAAC playoff berth in 2026. The successful season earned the senior Second Team All-MAAC Honors.
"Had a really good year this year at Merrimack, put up some good numbers," manager Jerod Edmonson said. "He's just going to be some depth for us. I'm sure we'll see him in there a few times starting, but he's just going to give us a little bit of pop off the bench."
The Kennett Square, Pa. native is ready to step into any role that the Rox give him.
"Wherever they need me," Cristino said. "I think I'm a good team guy, so I'm pretty excited to play with the boys and get a couple wins."
Brockton fans may remember the name Cristino from the 2024 New England Knockouts season, where his brother John Cristiano played 89 games in Campanelli Stadium. According to Greg, the 2024 Frontier League All-Star who signed with the Yankees organization after his single season with the Knockouts, played a big role in his signing.
"My brother reached out to Doc, and he has been helping me ever since," Greg said. "He's kind of a role model, and I just tried to follow him."
Along with the move to acquire Greg Cristino, Brockton also swapped pitchers on the Seven-Day Injured List. Brockton activated Saturria Thursday in preparation for games two and three against Washington.
"One of our relied upon guys, somebody you feel like you can use in pretty much every spot," Edmondson said of Saturria.
Edmonson also mentioned the decision to sideline Quigley came after his recent velocity struggles.
"I just think he's just a little bit tired and banged up," Edmonson said.
