Chesapeake Baysox News Release

(Bowie, MD) - Three members of the Bowie Baysox have been selected to participate in the 2007 Eastern League All-Star Game, presented by Mohegan Sun on Wednesday, July 11th at Dodd Stadium in Norwich, CT. RHP Radhames Liz, OF Val Majewski, and 3B Oscar Salazar will represent the Baysox on the Southern Division's roster.

Liz, 24, has been the Baysox most successful hurler this season. Liz, who was voted to the game as an Eastern League Fan Selection, leads the Baysox all pitchers with 94 strikeouts. Liz, who has made 16 starts for the Baysox, has compiled a 5-4 record, with a 3.89 ERA, the lowest of all Baysox starters. The El Seybo, DR native also became the first ever Baysox pitcher in history to throw a nine-inning complete game no-hitter at Prince George's Stadium. Liz accomplished the feat on June 1st vs. Harrisburg and was named Eastern League Pitcher of the week for his effort.

Majewski, 26, has been the Baysox backbone in the outfield for 2007, playing mostly in right field. The New Brunswick, NJ native has overcome a lot in his career, including missing the entire 2005 season with a shoulder injury suffered in Spring Training. Majewski debuted with the Baysox in 2004 and put up career numbers in almost every statistical category on his way to being named an Eastern League All-Star, with an eventual call-up with the Orioles for nine games in September. Majewski currently leads the Baysox in batting average, hitting .285.

Salazar, 29 is another Eastern League Fan Selection from the Baysox. Salazar came into the 2007 season, no stranger to the Eastern League having played with Erie and Binghamton in 2002 and Akron in 2004. Salazar who was signed in the off-season as a free agent, played the 2006 season in the Italian League. Salazar has been a big part of the Baysox offense this season and is tied for fifth in the league in hits (84), tied for third in the league in home runs (15), and third with 52 RBI. Salazar was named the Orioles organizational player of the month for May, compiling a .345 batting average, with seven homers, and 28 RBI. Salazar was also named Eastern League player of the week for the last week of May.

The Eastern League All-Star Game will pit the best players from the Northern Division against those from the Southern Division. The teams were selected through a combination of fan balloting and selections from managers, media and team personnel. A maximum of six players may represent each Eastern League team. Akron led the League with a total of six players voted in, followed by Connecticut with five.
