Harrisburg Senators News Release
The Harrisburg Senators announce today that three members of the team have been selected to participate in the 2007 Eastern League All-Star Game, July 11th in Norwich, CT.
Pitchers Collin Balester and Dan Kolb along with infielder Josh Whitesell were selected to represent the Senators for the Southern Division in the all-star game. Balester and Whitesell were selected by fan vote, while Kolb was added via voting of media and Eastern League Managers.
Balester, the Washington Nationals #1 prospect, has pitched well this season despite a 2-6 record. Balester has made 16 starts and has worked 92.2 innings and has allowed just 39 earned runs, 23 walks and has recorded 71 strikeouts.
Kolb has worked exclusively out of the Senators' bullpen this year and has a 2-0 record with a 1.82 ERA in 13 appearances. In his 24.2 innings, Kolb has yielded 15 hits and just 5 earned runs.
Whitesell was selected as the Nationals' Double-A Player of the Month for May prior to being named an all-star. For the season, Whitesell has a .286 batting average in 68 games. He also has 13 doubles, nine home runs, 38 RBI's and a .417 on base percentage.
The three players are slated to leave Harrisburg on Tuesday, participate in All-Star game activities on Tuesday and Wednesday and then rejoin the Senators in Reading on Thursday.
