July 2, 2007 - Eastern League (EL1)
Erie SeaWolves News Release
Hey fans - It's a Buck Night! And the SeaWolves are taking on the first place Akron Aeros in a showdown of the top two teams in the Southern Division. What better reason to stop out to the Uht and start your holiday week in summer style!
The 'Wolves have had a rough start to the homestand dropping both games to the hard-hitting Indians prospects, but potential All-Star Jair Jurrjens throws for Erie tonight.
Speaking of the Eastern League All-Stars, the SeaWolves should be well represented. There has been no announcement yet, but with the starting pitching thus far of Jurrjens, Eddie Bonine, and the league leader in victories Dallas Trahern, the Tigers AA-affiliate will showcase their talent in Norwich next week. In addition, Jeff Larish leads the league in RBI and is tied for the lead in homeruns. Mike Holliman has been a solid performer at the plate and in the field and Jackson Melian is mashing at the plate with a .332 average. Expect an announcement in the next few days!
Despite the loss on the field yesterday, there was a win for the Hispanic American Council of Erie! On the first Noche Latina presented by Time Warner Cable at Jerry Uht Park, we raised more than $2,000 for the Council by auctioning special uniforms worn on the field. Thank you, and congratulations to all that won yesterday!
Two big games over two big days this week. Join us Monday for Buck Night and Tuesday for Family Buck Night plus a post-game fireworks display and we'll help you celebrate Independence Day a few days early!
