The Two Millionth Fan Is Coming This Weekend... Will It Be You?

Bakersfield Condors News Release
BAKERSFIELD, Calif. - The Bakersfield Condors are anticipating the 2 millionth fan to pass through the turnstiles at The Nest at one of this weekend's games, either on Saturday night or Sunday afternoon, leaving only one question - will it be you? In celebration of this impressive attendance milestone, the Condors have put together a prize pack for the lucky fan that will go down in history as # 2,000,000.
The prize pack for the 2 millionth Condors fan will include a 10th Anniversary jersey with "2 million" as the number, tickets for the remainder of the 2007-08 season, a team-signed hockey stick, a commemorative plaque, upgraded seats for that night and a lottery ticket with the numbers of that night's starting lineup (with the potential to win more than $2,000,000).
As it stands now, the Condors are only 7,176 fans away from hitting the double million mark after starting the season with a nine-year attendance total of 1,856,506. So far this season, 136,318 fans have experienced the excitement of Condors hockey in person, pushing the all-time total attendance to 1,992,824. The Condors current average of 5,680 fans per game is third in the 25-team ECHL, which has a league average attendance of 4,039 fans per game.
Not only are the Condors well-above the league's average attendance this season, but they are on the verge of becoming only the fifth team currently in the ECHL to ever reach the milestone. The only other teams currently in the league that have drawn 2 million fans are South Carolina, Charlotte, Dayton and Florida.
"Reaching the 2 million fan mark is something that only a select few minor league sports organizations can claim," said Team President Matthew Riley. "This is a testament to the great staff and players that we have and have had throughout our 10 years, and the beautiful building we play in, but most of all to the loyalty and dedication of our unwavering fans."
The Condors will either draw their 2 millionth fan this Saturday night as they play host to the Stockton Thunder or Sunday afternoon when the Fresno Falcons come to Condorstown. Saturday's game will begin at 7 p.m., and will feature the ABC23 and Carl's Jr. Yutaka Fukufuji Bobblehead giveaway, during which the first 2,000 fans, 12-and-under, will receive a Yutaka Fukufuji bobblehead.
Sunday's game against the Fresno Falcons, sponsored by Bright House Networks, KUZZ 107.9 and Hudson Custom Construction, will be played at 2 p.m. and will follow the Condors vs. Falcons Alumni game. The Alumni game will begin at noon, and will wrap up the 41-hour Fighting Cancer Hockey-Thon, which starts Friday night at 11:59 p.m.
