The Dark Hammy To Take Over The Metrocentre

The Rockford IceHogs announced the team's 10th Annual Jersey Auction theme on Tuesday at a press conference at Saturn of Rockford. "The Dark Hammy" is the theme for the game that will take place on Saturday, April 4 when the IceHogs take on the Milwaukee Admirals at 7:05 p.m. at the Rockford MetroCentre.

The IceHogs will wear special Dark Hammy jerseys for the contest against Milwaukee, and immediately following the game, the team will hold a live auction on the ice where fans can bid on the jerseys.

All proceeds from the jersey auction go to the IceHogs Charitable Foundation. Some of the jersey auction beneficiaries include the Muscular Dystrophy Association, Boy Scouts and Girls Scouts of America, Big Brothers and Big Sisters of Rockford, Jr. IceHogs and more.

Rockford has held the auction in each of the team's nine previous seasons of professional hockey in the Forest City. Over the first nine auctions, the IceHogs have raised more than $509,000 with all the proceeds staying in the Rockford community.

Last season's auction raised an all-time IceHogs franchise record $73,195. To go along with the live jersey auction, the night will also feature several silent auction items and a raffle for a customize-your-own jersey auction jersey.

The first 2,000 fans to the game on April 4 will receive an IceHogs Jersey Auction T-shirt featuring The Dark Hammy logo. One lucky fan will also have an opportunity to win a new car courtesy of Saturn of Rockford. A fan at that night's game will be chosen at random and will participate in an on-ice contest for the car.

Next Home Game: Wednesday, March 11 vs. Milwaukee Admirals. Game time is 7:05 p.m. In honor of the IceHogs 10th Anniversary season, the team is giving away 10,000 hot dogs on Wednesday! Also, all kids 14-and-under can get into the game for just $5 and Wednesday is another Student Rush Night with WXRX as all students with a valid student ID can receive the best seat in the house for just $10.
