Aeros snap Flames winning streak

Houston halted Quad City's three-game win streak as the Flames suffered a 3-1 setback in the first of a two-game set at The Toyota Center on Tuesday night. David Van der Gulik scored the lone Flames goal in the loss.

Fresh off a recall to Calgary, David Van der Gulik kicked off the scoring with a first period power-play goal. Van der Gulik tipped home a point shot by Brandon Roach for his 15th tally of the season. The marker stood up as the lone tally of the first period, and the Flames hit the first intermission with a 1-0 lead.

The Aeros took the lead in the middle frame on even strength goals by Benoit Pouilot and Krys Kolanos. Pouilot scored just 56 seconds into the middle frame to tie the game at one. Kolanos' goal cam at 14:15 of the period when he deflect a Maxim Noreau shot into the Flames net. After 40 minutes, the Aeros held a 2-1 lead.

Paul Albers' insurance marker at 18:50 of the third period sealed the Aeros win and was the only goal of the closing period.

The Quad City Flames wrap up their season series with the Aeros on Friday at 7:30 p.m. at The Toyota Center. The Hayman's Ace Hardware Pre-Game Show begins 25 minutes prior to face-off on 93.9 FM WYEC. The games can also be seen live for $6.00 at ahllive.com.

The Quad City Flames return home on Saturday night for the 14th Annual Genesis Jersey Auction.
