B-Sens Sign Defenseman Matt Taormina

BINGHAMTON, N.Y. - The Binghamton Senators signed today defenseman Matt Taormina to an amateur tryout contract (ATO).

Taormina recently completed his collegiate career at Providence College (NCAA - Hockey East), where he registered 20 goals, 45 assists and 50 penalty minutes in 141 games with the Friars. The 22-year-old collected career highs in goals (9), assists (18) and points (27) during his junior season of 2007-08.

A native of Washington Township, Michigan, Taormina is expected to make his American Hockey League debut tonight at 7 p.m. when the Binghamton Senators face the Portland Pirates, top affiliate of the Buffalo Sabres.
