Albany River Rats News Release

ALBANY, NY - The Albany River Rats announced today that the club will be holding a food drive to benefit the Regional Food Bank of Northeastern New York at both games at the Times Union Center this weekend. Albany hosts Wilkes-Barre/Scranton on Friday night in a 7:00 p.m. face-off and the Philadelphia Phantoms at 5:00 p.m. on Saturday evening.

Fans that participate in this weekend's food drive will have the opportunity to win great prizes for their donations including autographed team merchandise, VIP packages and tickets to see the return of the Albany Firebirds on April 10, 2009. Any fans looking to participate in the food drive are advised to bring protein items (tuna, canned meat, peanut butter, etc.), prepared foods (canned stews, chili, ravioli, hearty soups, etc.), and cereal. Those wishing to make a monetary donation may do so at the Fan Relations Center behind Section 128 on the arena concourse.

The Regional Food Bank has been helping to feed the poor and hungry in our communities since 1982. It is the only organization of its kind in northeastern New York. The Food Bank collects large donations of food from the food industry and distributes it to charitable agencies serving hungry and disadvantaged people in 23 counties. From Plattsburgh to Newburgh, in urban, rural, and suburban communities, the Food Bank provides nearly 20 million pounds of food a year to over 1,000 agencies.
