LOWELL, Mass. - Junior Lessard's go-ahead goal with 2:20 left in regulation gave the Bridgeport Sound Tigers a 2-1 win over the Lowell Devils on Tuesday night at the Tsongas Arena. The loss extended Lowell's winless streak to five games.

In what was an evenly matched contest that seemed destined for overtime, Mark Wotton intercepted a clearing effort at the Devils blueline and sent the puck toward the crease. Though Jeff Frazee was able to make the initial save, he couldn't find the puck in the resulting scrum and Lessard was able to dump it into the net.

The Devils notched the only goal of the first period when Nicklas Bergfors circled from behind the net and found Rosario Ruggeri at the blueline for a slapshot through the five-hole of Peter Mannino at 8:42. That would be the only blemish on his 30-save performance.

Bridgeport was able to even the contest with 3:20 left in the second as its power play expired. Andrew MacDonald's point shot caromed off the back glass and directly to Jon Sim in front for the easy tap-in.

The Lowell Devils begin a four-game road stretch on Friday, March 13 at 7:30 p.m. versus the Manchester Monarchs. For more information about individual tickets and group packages for Devils home games, call (978) 458-PUCK (7825) or log on to www.lowelldevilshockey.com.
