Manchester Monarchs News Release
Toss Your Teddy's Against Hamilton
The Monarchs host the Hamilton Bulldogs during their Holiday Celebration on Friday, December 19 in a 7:30 p.m. contest at the Verizon Wireless Arena. This will be the first time you can welcome back right wing Ryan Murphy who rejoined the Monarchs on Sunday, December 14. Murphy skated with the Monarchs during the 2004-05, 2005-06 and 2006-07 seasons and scored his first goal of the season in Tuesday's 4-2 loss to Manitoba. The first 2,000 fans at Friday's game will receive a Max ornament. Fans can participate in the annual Teddy Bear Toss and toss a stuffed animal onto the ice during the second intermission for children in need. The Monarchs are also asking fans to get into the holiday spirit by donning their ugliest festive holiday sweaters to the game. If fans wish to part with their sweaters, the Monarchs Care Foundation will collect them post-game as a charitable contribution for the holiday season.
Brown Looks To Lead The Kings
Five seasons ago, right wing Dustin Brown arrived in Manchester as a shy 19-year-old who was plagued with injuries during his rookie season in the NHL the year before. Monarchs' fans had the unique opportunity to see Brown play due to the unfortunate lockout and now they can watch him lead the Los Angeles Kings as the first U.S. born and the youngest captain in team history. ESPN.com's Terry Frei discusses how Brown was once a shy rookie and is now leading the Kings back into the spotlight.
