
Teddy Bear Toss Kicks Off Big Weekend

Peoria, Ill. (December 17, 2008) - The Peoria Rivermen are home for two more games before the holidays and it all starts with a jam-packed Friday night at Carver Arena. It is WWE Legends Night, Illinois Pork Producers Night and there will be the Rivermen Fourth Annual Teddy Bear Toss. Then on Sunday it is another Comcast/Journal Star/Fun on the Run/Coke Family Day.
The first 2,500 fans in attendance on Friday will receive an eco-friendly tote bag courtesy of Illinois Pork Producers. Wrestling legends Jerry "The King" Lawler, "Hacksaw" Jim Dugan and Koko B. Ware will be in attendance and sign autographs beginning at 6:00 p.m. on the Carver Arena concourse. Autographs will be free and pictures of the wrestlers will be available for $5 each.
Fans are encouraged to bring a new or gently-used stuffed animal to donate to local charities by tossing it onto the ice following the Rivermen's first goal of the game. Firefighter's Local 50 will help collect the toys and distribute them this Christmas to help brighten a child's holiday season. Last season over 300 bears were collected.
Sunday's game will begin at 5:00 p.m. but the fun starts at 4:00 p.m. Upper bowl tickets for children 12 and under can be purchased for just $1 PLUS hot dogs, cokes and chips are also available for just $1 from 4:00-5:00 p.m. in the Great Hall of the Peoria Civic Center. There will also be inflatable games, balloon art (Unique Twist) and face painting. After the game, fans can skate with the team.
